Episode 2 finds Pepper and Alice in a cold barn cell. Both wear the standard prison uniform, a burlap bag. Kentucky joins them. They are finally given a bowl full of disgusting gruel, which they eat despite the terrible odor in their mouths. They wouldn't bother if they were not starving. After a long day in the garden, they need food to sustain them. They then curl up with just body heat and a thin layer burlap to keep them warm throughout the night.
